NATO reservists hold working session under the aegis of the French Air Force

Some fifty representatives of thirty-four member-countries and associate CIOR members were present at this working session, held in cooperation with ANORAA (1) and UNOR (2).

After the President’s welcome and opening remarks, several reports and updates were presented in plenary session. The chairman of the SWG gave a summary of the NATO Defense College research paper " Send the Reserve ! New ways to support NATO through Reserve Forces " and introduced the theme for next year’s symposium. This, together with the following update on interactive communication by the PAWG raised interesting questions from the audience, some of them related to the upcoming Security Jam 2014. The Secretary General gave a feedback on the Summer Congress 2013 in Brno, Czech Republic, and the chairmen of MILCOMP and YROW proposed their committees’ orientations for the coming year.

Following up his talk at the employer support symposium in Brno, Czech Republic, a senior executive in charge of reserve matters for TOTAL Group, Navy Captain (R) Frédéric Bouffard adressed the heads of delegations present and proposed avenues of cooperation on a win-win process on benchmarking based on collecting and exchanging information related to military reserves in their respective countries.

The guest speaker at the President’s dinner held at the Air and Space Museum was COL Bruno Dellarre, chief of staff of the French Joint Space Command.

Throughout the session, an intensive committee work took place and resulted in stimulating exchanges and reports during the plenary session. In keeping with a now well-established process, the Reserve Officers' Associations from Italy and from The Netherlands were presented to delegates by their respective CIOR heads of delegation.

The next meetings will be held in Brussels and Lille respectively: the CIOR Mid Winter Meerting from 6th to 8th February 2014, and the CIOR In-Between Meeting from 10th to 12th april 2014.
