Reserve Officer Confederation President discusses access to Courses and Exercises with ACT



141216cior01 400The President of the Interallied Confederation of Reserve Officers (CIOR), Bulgarian Army Lieutenant Colonel Dimitar Popov (Reserve) recently visited Headquarters, Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (HQ SACT) in Norfolk.

In meetings with the Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, Italian Air Force General Mirco Zuliani and the ACT Chief of Staff, British Army Lieutenant General Phil Jones, the CIOR President discussed Reservists' access to NATO courses and exercises. Special focus was on the school's 141216cior02 200seat allocation process and on a new joint, international Reserve unit that ACT is setting up to support its activities in Europe. The CIOR President also met with Subject Matter Experts on the NATO School and on ACT's comprehensive exercise program. The parties agreed to make an effort to better inform Reservists about the education and training opportunities that are available at the NATO School, and to clarify the procedure to obtain seats at relevant courses.

Lieutenant Colonel Popov was accompanied by the head of the U.S. delegation to CIOR, U.S. Navy Rear Admiral Paul Kayye (Retired) and the PR advisor to the CIOR Presidency, U.S. Coast Guard Captain Henry Plimack (Retired). The visit to HQ SACT was preceded by a sight survey at the U.S. Marine Corps base Quantico outside Washington D.C., where the military competition portion of the CIOR Summer Congress will take place next summer.
