CIOR IBM discussed forthcoming changes and visited Estonia´s largest exercise
„Recent years have changed security situation in the world fundamentally, armies and international security organisations are going through transformation to face contemporary security challenges more effectively,“ president of CIOR LTC Tooas Luman said. „CIOR has to keep up with the rest of military community and change as well . It will help us to explain reserves issues to NATO´s and national decision makers more effectively and address better CIORś audiences. „
CIOR council approved number of changes in CIOR structure during IBM in Brussel this winter. They concern reorganising commiittees and woring groups that enables them to create more synergy, learn from each ohter and become more efficient and capable.
During the meeting CIOR and CIOMR signed Memorandum of Undrestanding as the first sign of bigger interoperability.
During IBM CIOR delegation visited Estonia´s largest exercise Spring Storm 23, which brought together 13000 participants inckuding 4000 reservists and 4000 allies, Delegates were given overview of the exercise by Major General Enno Mõts – Deputy Chief of Defence, met with minister of Defence Mr. Hanno Pevkur and Chief of Defence General Martin Herem. Delegates visited medical unit which was manned mostly by reservist and a command post.
The IBM ended with shooting competition, where BGEN Erich Cibulka from Austria achieved the third, LTC Toomas Luman from Estonia the second and LTC Bobby Hollies from USA the first prize.
CIOR council and committees meet regularly four times a year. Next meeting will take place at CIOR summer congress in Helsinki last week of June.
