Reserve Officer Association of Ukraine joins CIOR as associate member

CIOR Public Affairs 31.01.2025
The Ukrainian Association of Reserve Officers and Veterans (UAROV) has been approved for associate
membership in CIOR. This announcement comes during the annual Midwinter Meeting of CIOR. The
council, comprised of delegates from each member nation, voted unanimously during its session today
to approve the new associate member.

As an associate member, UAROV gains access to the CIOR platform for international exchange between
reserve officers. Participating in CIOR events will allow them to promote the Ukrainian perspective onto
reserves, exchange with partner nations and contribute to the perception and preparedness of the
reserves of CIOR member nations.

“This is a historic step for CIOR as a platform for effective international collaboration. We warmly
welcome our reservist brothers and sisters in Ukraine into the CIOR family. We have a lot to learn from
each other. Sharing values, knowledge, skills and invaluable real-life experience will benefit everyone
involved and strengthen the foundations for freedom in a safer world.“
notes Colonel Jørn Buø, President
of CIOR.

Lieutenant Volodymyz Dzhydzhora, president of UAROV and colonel Jørn Buø, president of CIOR.

CIOR’s new associate member UAROV is an organization with the aim of strengthening the security of
Ukraine. Retired veterans and foreign instructors provide training for reservists. In the past two years,
Ukrainian reservists have also taken part in CIOR events, including the Summer Congress, Language
Academy, CIMIC Exercise, Military Competition and Young Reserve Officers program.

“(...) we will head back to Ukraine with this very brilliant news,” says Brigadier General of Justice Serhii
Melnyk, Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Defence. Lieutenant Volodymyz Dzhydzhora, president of UAROV
agreed: “We will bring this news to all of our military, active and reserves, and to our citizens.”

The newly approved associate membership will enable Ukrainian reserve officers to intensify the
dialogue and strengthen the collaboration with other reserve officers from all over the world.
